There are many great designs in here. I do, however, pose the tricky question of balance: how much 'stuff' do you put in a design before it begins to distract from actually understanding the content? There is a spectrum to be sure, and the answer must fit the goal and the circumstance, but I find that some of these designs get a bit heavy on the 'graphic collage' and low on the 'cohesive glue' in design. I appreciate the creativity of them all.
    • Great Designs. Thank you for sharing. :-D

I didn't realize what a rut I was in. Now I'm inspired and I remember why I became a designer. Thanks!

-I agree with you on this one. Designers should never overlook the importance of functionality when it comes to designing websites for their clients.

The website designs all look awesome! I'm loving Juandiegovelasco. It looks fresh and beautiful.
    • Cool looking roundup! You deliver well as always, Ronald. :)
    • I think a lot of these are kind of messy and complicated. Seems to be a trend of cramming as much visual BS onto a page as possible these days.

Duirwaigh has wonderful eye-popping colors. However, when I went to the site, I felt a bit lost. Even when I read the Home page I still wondered what is was really about (poets and revelers... ehm, okay). Beautiful graphics but the written content was less than inspiring. It looked like someone opened a thesaurus and jammed as many dreamy words as possible into a largely grammatically flawed essay.

I do realize this isn't about the content but graphics. However I feel that the content should enrich it's design instead of drag it down.
    • Right content is king and there is no doubt in that. But this showcase stresses on inspiration, hope you get my point.
    • Nice selection of website designs! Very inspiring!
    • Awesome selection - some of the best looking designs on the web
    • I really love the gummisig design. Big bold clear typography, and beautiful watercolour like imagery top left. Very nice indeed.
    • Some very inspirational designs. Nice post.

This is a joke right? These are beautiful and creative? LOL. Here's a thought. Visit http://www.thefwa.com/ if you want to see beautiful and creative. All the websites you posted look like a bunch of stock photos with elements cut out and slapped on a page. No coherence to the visual nor usability to the site. Bleh.

Too bad none of the sites on the FWA are blogs. Read the set-up. If the FWA had a contest that took and open-source platform (i.e., blogware) and asked for the best designs, they'd get something more like what was posted here.
    • Agreed!
    • Nice collection i.e good as well as irregular .
    • Glad you like it guys :) and hope this will help inspire others.
